Project to redesign a botijo and manufacture it in low-temperature ceramics using a mold.
The botijo is one of the oldest known objects, and has been used to drink fresh water for thousands of years throughout the Mediterranean area.
The botijo is representative of Mediterranean culture, so I decided to research the history of some of the cultures and places along the Mediterranean, and I also researched the types of botijos that were used in the past. There was a particular type of botijo that was used in some coastal places of the Mediterranean, specifically by the local fishermen. It is called "botijo de barca". Its conical shape allows it to be more stable on the deck of the boats.
Having found this peculiar type of botijo, I set out to start with the redesign.
