The world's largest videogame and board game design meeting takes place at ESADA

The world's largest videogame and board game design meeting takes place at ESADA
24 January 2022

The meeting will be held from 28 to 30 January at our school.

With venues all over the world, this game creation challenge is held every year and attracts more and more people. Developers of all profiles come together to create games with the same theme within a 48-hour time limit. The aim is to encourage creativity, innovation and collaboration. The Granada venue, one of the 3 in the Andalusian region, expects to gather more than 150 participants, making it one of the largest nationally.

The Global Game Jam has been growing every year, reaching record numbers worldwide, where more than 9,000 games have been played between the 938 venues, spread across 119 countries and encompassing all the world's time slots.

The Granada Jam association, a non-profit association that seeks to promote the culture and professionalization of video game creation by retaining talent in the province of Granada, has energized the event, which will bring together participants of all profiles, with or without experience, from programmers to artists, musicians or writers... who will team up to design and develop games under the same theme that will be revealed by the Global Game Jam organization the week of the event.

Different prizes will be awarded to the best games and Granada Gaming Festival, one of the biggest videogame fairs in Spain, will select the most commercial videogame, which will have a stand at its event in April.

"With this year's edition, taking all possible security measures in front of the Covid, we hope to gradually return to the activities and events organised by the association. One of our objectives has always been to create an industrial fabric related to video games in the province of Granada, something we are achieving little by little, as shown by the number of studios that are appearing in the city or those that end up working for AAA studios," added Alfonso Jurado, president of the association.
