This project is a collaboration between ESADA students, 2nd year Product Design and the Biomimicry Granada team, within the subject of Ecodesign and Sustainability. The project is carried out in constant collaboration of the team, with weekly sessions of 5 hours. In this way, the Biomimicry team can provide knowledge to our students about biomimicry. The students apply their knowledge on a project proposal, which will materialize in the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge proposal. The result of the project is an App for smartphones. In the briefing of the competition, applications with biomimetic character and the 17 sustainable development goals presented by the UN are valued.
It is an application designed to promote sustainable tourism. The purpose of the application is to sensitize the tourist through a symbiosis, where it contributes to the tourist and the host. In this case, hosts are restaurants, accommodations and means of transportation that are environmentally responsible, use eco-friendly products, use renewable energy, promote the consumption of local and seasonal food. These requirements are essential to be included in the application.
The application works with a symbiotic relationship between the tourist and the host. When the tourist attends the listed places, he/she earns points to be redeemed for a reward of the tourist's choice. Both parties benefit. This application offers all the tourist's amenities, which are: accommodation, restaurants and transportation. In addition to activities and a reward system.
