This project involves the redesign of a piece of furniture of the designer's own choice, in which the history of the piece of furniture itself is investigated. In this particular case, the choice has been a chair whose redesign entailed the transformation of this ottoman, being necessary a great deal of research to acquire knowledge about the characteristics, manufacture and materials of such products, and thus to define the final design.

From Toga to Breather

Breather is a redesign of the Toga chair by Israeli designer Reut Rosenberg, based on the tension that can be created by sitting on an element as light and delicate at first glance as a fabric or blanket, although we associate it with comfort and rest. Thus, it shows an ottoman made as a continuous surface that plays like an optical illusion, since it looks like a fabric resting on a structure, however, thanks to the materials used, allows us to rest on it and take a breath, either sitting, lying or just with your feet up. The result is a minimalist and clean finish, and a product that is both functional and decorative.

Breather means respite or relief, and makes merits to its function, since an ottoman is a seat or footrest that focuses, in most cases, to the ephemeral rest, without becoming a piece of furniture dedicated faithfully to this.
